Therapeutic Riding Center Charity Profile
Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center (TRC) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing quality education and therapeutic equine programs for people with disabilities since 1978.
Originating with a handful of volunteers teaching lessons to just eight students, Fieldstone Farm TRC has evolved into a full-time, nationally accredited program, which currently serves more than 700 students annually with the help of more than 500 volunteers! Our center is one of the largest and most progressive in the country. We offer a wide variety of programs designed with the individual goals of our students in mind
Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center (TRC) was founded in 1978 by Kevin Ellison and was initially called the Chagrin Valley Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. Lessons began with eight students who rode once per week on borrowed horses, with the help of a handful of volunteers. The program operated in loaned facilities until moving in 1988 into a leased location at Salmor Stables on the border of Newbury and South Russell, Ohio.
By 1992, the Therapeutic Riding Center had dramatically expanded its staff and volunteers and increased its programming to six days per week, year-round. There are currently 34 staff members (twelve full-time) and over 500 volunteers.
In November of 1997, the program moved into its own brand new, state-of-the-art facility, which was named Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center. This expanded facility is one of the largest facilities of its kind in North America and it includes a therapy room, classroom, indoor and outdoor arenas and ample workspace for an array of programming.
