Emmaus Norway - U-Landsforeningen Svalene Charity Profile

The Swallows of Norway is a small neutral NGO, member of Emmaus International.

The main task of the Swallows is financing the operation of a vocational school for young girls in Lima, Peru, called Cristiania. This school gives free education to about 160 girls each year, pupils from homes in a precarious economic situation. The aim is to give teaching to girls that are not in conditions to obtain an education by their own means. In addition to ordinary theoretical subjects, the school offers courses in machine-knitting, industrial sewing, domestic science and computer instruction. Cristiania also receives 24 boarders among the pupils, and gives food to a large number of pupils. This school is also a member organisation of Emmaus International.
