Volunteer Center of Greensboro Charity Profile

For 30 years, The Volunteer Center of Greensboro has been helping create a community of caring.

We began our mission in 1975 as the Voluntary Action Center of Greensboro, an independent United Way agency. One short year later, we were honored as a model center for the entire country - the only one selected in North Carolina. In 1995, we became known as The Volunteer Center of Greensboro, Inc.

Over the years, we’ve developed a host of programs to help all members of our community. The Human Race, a community-wide fundraiser for nonprofit organizations, has raised more than $3 million since it began in 1993.

There are some just for teens, projects that are suitable for groups of people, special holiday opportunities, and a calendar of one-day or short-term events. There’s also a listing for people who need to perform community service (court appointed or to meet a school requirement).
