Triangle Community Foundation Charity Profile
Triangle Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that serves Chatham, Durham, Orange and Wake counties. The Foundation manages approximately $140 million in funds established by individuals, businesses and families to support local, regional and national nonprofits, churches and educational institutions.
We make grants, averaging $13 million annually, and administer a variety of programs for the community's benefit, including nearly 60 scholarships and Send A Kid To Camp™. 80 percent of the Foundation’s grantmaking is made through its donor-advised funds. Organizations cannot apply for these funds; rather, fundholders, working closely with Foundation staff, recommend where money from their funds should be granted.
The Foundation also manages an open, competitive grantmaking program, the Community Grantmaking Program, to which organizations can apply for funds. The average grant size is $12,000 to $15,000. Grants support projects or organizations in two focus areas: Civic Engagement and Youth Leadership & Development.
