Doctors Without Borders, USA Charity Profile
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.
Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. MSF reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.
Doctors Without Borders, USA Volunteer Information
Thank you for your interest in volunteering in our New York office. We hope that at this point you are already familiar with our organization. If you are not, please take a moment to read some of the other sections of our website to learn more about us.
Volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, and interests enjoy contributing their time to the U.S. offices of MSF. We believe interested persons should be able to volunteer in our offices even if they do not have a lot of free time. As such we accept persons for positions which range from just a few to many hours per week. These positions frequently involve clerical work. However, once you have been with us over a period of time and know how our offices operate, we may be able to include you in more interesting projects. For the sake of all concerned, we do our best to take advantage of any special skills you may have to offer. Currently we are only able to accommodate volunteers during regular working hours, though we keep information about evening and weekend availability in case of a crisis.
