United Way of Santa Fe County Charity Profile
United Way of Santa Fe County is a Community Investment organization dedicated to creating long-term, lasting change through innovation and action. One of 1,400 United Ways in the United States, we are independently incorporated and entirely governed by local volunteers.
Our staff, directors and volunteer leaders walk our talk by raising awareness, mobilizing community assets and focusing our efforts where they’ll effect real results. Our partners, donors and corporate sponsors bring invaluable expertise, insight and resources.
We’ve always had an independent streak. In 2002, we decided we could effect more meaningful changes in Santa Fe County as a Community Investment organization. So we adopted our Community Priorities Plan, began focusing on outcomes and implemented a new funding process. We added education to our health and human services priorities. And a 2004 federal grant for early literacy established UWSFC as an innovator in early-childhood issues.
We’re still affiliated with United Way of America, and now we’re making a bigger investment in our community. Recently, we’ve enacted our own initiatives: 211 Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Children's Project.
