New Mexico Rails-to-Trails Charity Profile
The Mexican Canyon Trestle has been a symbol to the Sacramento Mountains since 1899. A marvel of engineering this and other trestles enabled visitors and the logging industry easy access to the Cloudcroft area. It is now the largest and most complete standing reminder of a time gone by and as a wooden structure being over 100 years old is in need of restoration.
The Lincoln National Forest has completed the environmental analysis to begin work on the many stages in the restoration of the trestle. Work has begun on clearing the brush around the trestle as well as in the areas where machinery will need to be placed.
