Nevada Museum of Art Charity Profile
The Nevada Museum of Art (NMA) provides a forum for the presentation of creative ideas. We aspire to serve as a cultural resource for every member of our community. Through innovative programming and scholarship, the Museum provides the opportunity for people of all ages to encounter, engage, and enjoy a diversity of art experiences. The NMA's focus on its collections, education, and outreach are means to conserve, convey, and expand artistic knowledge.
Nevada Museum of Art Volunteer Information
Volunteers may join one OR MORE specific divisions or do one OR MORE specific tasks.
The Store/Reception Activities:
Volunteers who staff the Museum Store greet and assist visitors, answer telephones, sell gift items and event tickets, take reservations for events and museum school classes, and act as the primary contact between the NMA and the general public.
Administrative Volunteer Activities:
Assist with clerical work, filing, typing, word processing, assist with mailings, distribution of materials, research and data input.
Collection and Exhibition Volunteer Activities:
Assist with installation, (painting walls, lighting, labeling, framing, mat cutting, etc.), research, filing, etc. Specialized training is required for the proper handling of artwork.
Docents:
Docents are trained volunteers who give guided tours and/or workshops about the NMA's exhibitions and collections. Docents are trained by the NMA on the exhibitions, tour styles, and tours for specific age groups.
Special Event Volunteer Activities:
Assist with events, event staffing, raffle ticket sales, set-up and tear-down.
Hospitality Activities:
Assist with the planning and staffing of opening receptions, special events, and Museum rentals including food and wine preparation, set-up and tear-down.
