VSO Netherlands Charity Profile

VSO is an international development organisation that offers support in developing countries on a structural basis. Our mission is a world without poverty. A world in which people work together to achieve their development potential. Our most important weapon in the fight against poverty is passing on expertise.

The core of our work is capacity building; we offer support to local organisations so that they grow stronger and can carry out activities to tackle poverty more effectively and efficiently.

In 1989, VSO Nederland began recruiting professionals who were then posted abroad and financed by VSO UK. Over the years, we gradually became more involved in implementing and structuring: recruitment, selection, training/preparing, matching, placing and coaching returning VSO volunteers. We also take an active role in programme development and our revenue from the private and institutional Dutch market expanded.

VSO Netherlands Volunteer Information

VSO volunteers are gradually shifting the emphasis of their work from pure implementation. For instance, a VSO tutor develops a training plan for teachers, for which he or she creates a structure. Our managers advise local organisations so that they can carry out their work more effectively, efficiently and durably.
