United Way of the Midlands, Nebraska Charity Profile
United Way is a powerful partnership of donors, volunteers and service providers. We change people's lives and make a lasting change in our community. From families in poverty, to teens in trouble, to seniors struggling to remain independent, and more.
MISSION: To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.
Specifically, United Way of the Midlands mobilizes the caring power of people who live and work in Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska and Pottawattamie County in southwest Iowa.
United Way-funded programs change people’s lives and forge real change in community conditions.
Through 2-1-1, United Way connects people with the local services they need, by phone and over the web. United Way recruits and refers volunteers of all ages, and builds partnerships that improve the quality and delivery of human services across the metro area.
VISION: We will build a stronger America by mobilizing our communities to improve people’s lives. To do this we will:
Energize and inspire people to make a difference
Craft human care agendas within and across our communities
Build coalitions around these agendas
Increase investments in these agendas by expanding and diversifying our own development efforts and supporting those of others
Measure, communicate, and learn from the impact of our efforts
Reflect the diversity of the communities we serve

United Way of the Midlands, Nebraska Volunteer Information
United Way helps people find the right volunteer project...trains potential volunteers for special positions, supports local volunteer managers...and even helps with programs like Toys for Tots and Court Referral Community Service. We find meaningful and convenient volunteer opportunities for adults, youth and groups who are interested in giving back to our community. United Way has long-standing relationships with a variety of nonprofit, governmental and cultural agencies that need the help of volunteers to do their important work. We work with individuals, families and employee groups to find projects that match their skills and schedules.
