Child Saving Institute Charity Profile

CSI is funded by private donations, government grants and contracts, and the United Way of the Midlands. CSI's mission: Responding to the cry of a child. At its core, CSI exists to help children and families. We’re tireless in our mission to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect. We provide emergency services to children and teens in crisis. And we offer therapy for physically and sexually abused children. Additionally, CSI is a community leader in preventive family education, preservation, and childcare.

CSI also provides hope. We help to nurture a positive family dynamic by recruiting foster and adoptive families for children and teens. And we present a unique and holistic approach to treating substance abuse in young people through the JOURNEYS program, a collaborative effort with two other important Omaha organizations, Catholic Charities and Omaha Home for Boys

Child Saving Institute Volunteer Information

Volunteer today with Child Saving Institute and experience what it means to make a difference in a child's life.

Child Saving Institute needs dedicated individuals interested in volunteering time with children, teens, and families. You can volunteer on a continual basis or once depending on your time and interests.

On-Going Volunteers
Volunteering on a continual basis gives you many opportunities to make a difference in someone's life. On-going volunteers receive 15 hours of training to prepare for different volunteer positions. On-going volunteers must be 19 or older.

Be a mentor for a young parent (age twenty-five and younger) and help them meet their goals of continuing their education, reducing risk of abuse and neglect for their infants, learning independent living skills, and learning problem-solving skills.
Be a mentor assisting a child, age six to thirteen, attending Omaha Public Schools in developing social skills, increasing coping skills, enhancing their self image, learning strategies for responsible decision-making, assisting with homework and providing one-on-one support and friendship.
Mentors for the Independent Living Skills program will help youth age 16 - 19 aging out of foster care to prepare for independent life. This may consist of accompanying the youth to meetings where their progress in establishing home and living skills are discussed. Mentors are instrumental in helping with job preparation and finding resources for continued education.
Volunteer in a CSI emergency shelter assisting staff in providing a nurturing environment for children and youth ages 0 to 18 that have been placed in a shelter because of a family crisis. Provide special one-on-one attention serving as a role model; engage children in reading books, playing games, completing homework, doing crafts and conversation. Volunteers also assist staff with outings, bedtime, and mealtimes.
Childcare volunteers are needed Wednesday and Thursday evenings so parents may participate in CSI's parenting classes.
On-Call Support Volunteers
Are you a volunteer group leader, youth group leader or an individual looking for an occasional or one-time volunteer opportunity? Are you thinking about doing office work, helping with mailings, or sorting the in-kind closet during the day, with little commitment? Could you volunteer for CSI with as little as two days notice? If so, please call the CSI Development office – we have an opportunity for you!

Be a Special Event Committee Member
Are you looking for a great way to give back to our community, make new friends, and help kids? Consider volunteering to help with one of CSI's special events!

Cabaret - annual evening event featuring entertainment, dinner and a raffle
Golf Fore Kids Classic - held in the summer and sponsored by the CSI Guild
Touch-A-Truck - a fall event featuring large trucks, military and emergency vehicles and race cars kids can explore. Sponsored by the CSI Guild.

Child Saving Institute Donation Information

Continuing CSI's rich tradition of dedicated service to children and families is dependent upon the generous time, talents, and financial gifts given by individuals, corporations, foundations, churches, groups, and schools. Children need our help. Families need our help. Private contributions are vital because client fees and government funding do not fund the necessary services to meet the needs of our community's children and families. CSI's core values assert that our programs remain available to disadvantaged and low-income persons. We are committed to those values. Your support makes that commitment possible.

Child Saving Institute treasures your support and is committed to the stewardship of your gifts and your personal information. It is our practice that all donors have the right to choose to remain anonymous.
