Mission Statement:Educating and motivating people to care for and about groundwater
Was founded on the principle that education is a powerful motivator for change and that factually informed people who understand the value and vulnerability of groundwater will act responsibly and responsively on its behalf.
Believes groundwater education for people is the central tenet of our work and that our customers are diverse, including everyone who consumes groundwater or benefits from its bounty.
Focuses on education for action: understanding that pollution prevention is the most effective, cost efficient way to protect groundwater.
Engages interest in, and inspires action on behalf of, groundwater protection and conservation through on-the-ground programs serving people.
Implements national and international programs while supporting local groundwater protection initiatives.
Spreads the word about the value of groundwater through publications, conferences, festivals, consultation with other organizations, and our growing Groundwater Guardian network.
Creates a major impact with a small amount of money in order to keep expenditures as low as possible.
Understands that partnerships and collaboration are the keys to effectiveness.
Strives for innovation and growth as a way to more effectively serve our members and the public at large.
Bases all of its programs on sound science and incorporates current research, technology, and practices into its publications and public information events.

Groundwater Foundation Volunteer Information
Volunteer Participation
Volunteers are vital to the success of The Groundwater Foundation because they help The Groundwater Foundation provide strong programs and accomplish its mission.
The Groundwater Foundation accepts the service of all volunteers with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of The Groundwater Foundation. Volunteers agree that at any time The Groundwater Foundation may decide to terminate the volunteer’s relationship with The Groundwater Foundation.
Definition of a Volunteer
A volunteer is anyone who, without compensation or expectation of compensation beyond possible reimbursement of expenses, performs a task at the direction of and on behalf of The Groundwater Foundation.
A volunteer must be accepted by The Groundwater Foundation prior to performance of a task. Every Groundwater Foundation volunteer is subject to a crimial records and/or reference check.
Unless specifically stated, volunteers shall not be considered as agents of The Groundwater Foundation. The Groundwater Foundation does not accept the services of employees as volunteers. Members of The Groundwater Foundation Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Committee are volunteers.
