Montana Legal Services Association Charity Profile
The Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA) is a federally and privately funded program that provides free legal assistance in civil cases to low-income people.
Our mission is to protect and enhance the civil legal rights of, and promote systemic change for, Montanans living in poverty.
Montana Legal Services Association Volunteer Information
MLSA summer interns will work side by side with MLSA staff in an effort to provide, protect and enhance access to justice. MLSA law student interns will be exposed to various areas of poverty law and gain experience.
MLSA AmeriCorpsVISTA volunteers are recruited nationally and serve in various locations throughout Montana for a period of one year. MLSA VISTA volunteers have developed legal community education projects, worked with the First Judicial District to design the Children First Parenting Plan Orientation program, and helped establish a pro bono program in Missoula.
The Family Law Mediation program helps low income Montana residents by providing free mediation. Both attorneys and non-attorneys are needed to provide mediation to MLSA clients. As a volunteer, you may choose to donate time as your busy schedule allows. MLSA staff will offer volunteer mediators the support necessary to ensure a positive and rewarding experience.
