Montana Grain Growers Association Charity Profile
In Montana, the embryo of "self-help" market development began in the mid-1950's with the organization of the Montana Grain Growers Association. A consolidation of three "crop improvement" groups (Southeast, Northeast and "Triangle" area grain producers), MGGA was to emerge as the rallying point for those Montana wheat farmers too impatient to sit and wait for "someone else to do it."
MGGA is a commodity specific organization primarily representing the interests of wheat and barley growers. We use the contacts and experience gained over the past 50+ years to affect the laws, regulations and rules that we farm by. We, along with the National Association of Wheat Growers and the National Barley Growers Association, have become an influential commodity organization in our state and country. We use that influence to make things happen.
MGGA is one of 23 states that belong to the National Association of Wheat Growers and one of 7 states that make up the National Barley Growers Association. MGGA has two board members on each of these national organizations headquartered in Washington, DC.
