NEMO Medical Reserve Corps Charity Profile
The Northeast Missouri Medical Reserve Corps is a volunteer group that can supplement existing community emergency medical resources, as well as contribute to meeting the public health needs of the community.
The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) program was created after the 9/11 disasters to allow citizens to volunteer to serve their country and their communities. The Northeast Missouri Medical Reserve Corps is proud to join Columbia and Kansas City as one of three pilot programs in the state, and we are excited to welcome Jefferson City on board this year. We are currently grant-funded, although many communities have developed MRC’s at their own expense to fulfill the needs of their communities. The MRC has been created to “fill in the gaps” and assist wherever there is a need; this makes each unit unique to its own community.
NEMO Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer Information
The most remarkable way to change your life is to volunteer your time to help others, whether it’s for the MRC or another organization in your community. Kirksville is home to a number of rewarding volunteer organizations, which include: the Adair County Red Cross, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), and the Salvation Army.
The Northeast Missouri MRC roster includes physicians, allied health professionals, EMTs, paramedics, nurses, mental health professionals, CERT team members, and pilots. If you have a medical background, including prior military experience, consider joining and using your experience to help others.
