Upper Room Charity Profile
The Upper Room summer program runs from June 16th-August 8th.
In previous years, the average reading increase for Upper Room participants was 6 months - or 2.5 times the amount of time spent in class.
When working with volunteers and reading independently, students test their reading comprehension after completing each book. In the computer lab, sudents take five or ten question quizzes over each book they read. These quiz results are closely monitored in order to better assess which students need more help and which are improving.
Upper Room Volunteer Information
Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade students. Tutoring activities include reading with students or assisting teachers with classroom activities.
