Literacy Kansas City View Charity Profile
Our mission is to advance literacy among Kansas City area adults through direct services, advocacy and collaboration.
Literacy Kansas City is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides free, confidential, one-to-one and small group reading help to adults and older teens in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
Founded in 1985, Literacy Kansas city is an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America.
Literacy Kansas City Volunteer Information
Volunteer Orientations serve as an introduction to Literacy Kansas City, the issues of illiteracy, and the opportunities available for volunteers.
Tutor Training Workshops prepare volunteer tutors to work one-to-one with functionally illiterate adults. Attendance is required at all days of a training session to become a certified tutor. There is a $35 registration fee, $10 of which is refundable upon resigning as a tutor and returning your textbooks.
