Helping Hands Therapeutic Riding Center Charity Profile
Helping Hands Therapeutic Riding Center is dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities utilizing equine assisted activities to improve their everyday quality of life. We are located in the Kansas City area in the southwest corner of Jackson County Missouri.
Helping Hands Therapeutic Riding Center Volunteer Information
Volunteers play a crucial role in making our program a success. Many riders, especially in the beginning stages of therapy, simply could not ride without the assistance from volunteers. Our volunteers are also responsible for making sure that our horses are well loved and cared for.
The gift of your time and effort is rewarded in smiles, laughter, friendship and the satisfaction of knowing you can make a difference.
Walks beside the horse and offers stability to the rider. One to three side walkers are used in each class depending on the needs of the rider.
Helps the instructor prepare the horse for the class and controls the horse for the student while in the riding arena.
Barn Buddy’s receive special training to work in the barn. Responsible for grooming, tacking and exercising horses in preparation for classes or camps. Responsible for equipment cleaning, general barn maintenance and caring for the horses after classes or camps.
