The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri Charity Profile
The Food Bank for Centeral & Northeast Missouri provides free food to soup kitchens, emergency food pantries, shelters for the abused and/or homeless, low income children’s programs, senior citizens programs and rehabilitation centers. Our Mission: Through empowerment, education and partnerships, CMFB brings community resources together to feed people in need. Our Human Service Philosophy: We do not charge for food. Historically, food banks have passed on the cost of operating their programs to their member hunger relief agencies. However, because of the overwhelming need during the Great Flood of 1993, CMFB’s Board of Directors decided to permanently discontinue shared maintenance fee charges to member agencies.
Affiliated with America’s Second Harvest network of more than 200 US food banks, CMFB is one of only five nationally that give all food away free to member agencies. This single philosophical change has allowed us to support more hunger relief agencies and ultimately more people in need.
