Community Foundation of East Mississippi Charity Profile

Established in 1984, the Community Foundation of East Mississippi is a publicly supported charitable foundation consisting of named funds established by many separate donors for the benefit of East Mississippi.

Although the general public is less familiar with community foundations than with private foundations, community foundations have a similarly long history in this country. From the first community foundation in Cleveland in 1914, the field has now grown to close to 700 organizations nationwide. The Community Foundation of East Mississippi was established by a group of civic leaders who saw an opportunity to preserve and retain local charitable assets for the public good.
