The Mendenhall Ministries Charity Profile

Most southern towns historically have had one thing in common: A set of railroad tracks often divided them, economically and racially. There often was a spiritual separation too. The subtle but strong message was that one side of town was good and the other bad.

Jesus Christ has never let such artificial barriers stop Him. For Him, there has never been a good or bad side of the tracks -- just people in need of His saving love. Mendenhall, Mississippi, is no exception. Today -- and for the last 35 years -- the Mendenhall Bible Church (MBC) and its outreach arm, The Mendenhall Ministries (TMM), have crossed artificial economic, spiritual, and racial barriers in rural Mississippi with a message of hope rooted in biblical reconciliation and personal responsibility.

The Mendenhall Ministries Volunteer Information

Our volunteer services is one of the most unique aspects of TMM. Our volunteer program gives many from around the state and nation, who have not experienced poverty, a chance to live, learn and develop empathy for others. Church groups who come to serve on a short term or long term basis, have an opportunity to serve in the following areas:

Receptionist for the administrative offices
Assist with mailing
Assist president as needed
Assist with volunteer groups
Assist teachers at Genesis One Christion School (nursery - high school)
Provide needed repairs in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, painting in housing and ministry buildings.
And much more

We can accomodate small and large groups of volunteers. Our volunteer center houses up to 100 volunteers and includes a kitchen and dining room area. For our smaller groups, we have a one bedroom apartment and a two bedroom / two bath house. Both have fully furnished kitchens. Laundry facilities are available.

The presence of volunteers says to the community that people "from the other side of the tracks" care. Volunteers learn, "I can make a difference too." That's what crossing the tracks is all about!
