Branch County Community Foundation Charity Profile
The Branch County Community Foundation was established in 1991 by a group of visionary leaders from local Rotary clubs who saw the need for a community foundation supported by donors from all walks of life. They realized that a strong community based organization could help those in need and create a legacy of caring for the future of our communities. The five local Rotaries gave initial gifts totaling $50,000.
The Community Foundation has grown to its present size because of gifts and bequests from hundreds of individuals, families, organizations, and corporations. Today the Community Foundation has total permanent assets of over $5 million!
We serve our community by promoting charitable giving, building permanent endowments, and connecting community resources.
Branch County Community Foundation Volunteer Information
In addition to staff, the Community Foundation carries out a great deal of its work through our volunteer board and committees. Anyone can apply to become a board or committee member. It is the board's intent to attract volunteers reflective of our service area and who possess desired characteristics, talents, and experience needed to govern the organization effectively. Participation on one of the Community Foundation's committee's is a way to become involved more closely with the Community Foundation before you consider board membership.
Community members are encouraged to serve on committees which are responsible for, grantmaking policy and impact, investment, marketing and communications, grant proposal review, scholarship application review, and for promoting charitable giving in our community.
