Macomb Habitat for Humanity Charity Profile
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller in Americus, Georgia with the purpose of providing low-income families a unique opportunity for home ownership. The concept worked so well that it was expanded throughout the United States and is now a worldwide phenomenon. Its popularity has been enhanced by the endorsement of many prominent people, including former president Jimmy Carter.
Macomb County Habitat for Humanity's one and only goal is to eliminate substandard housing in Macomb County. Through Macomb Habitat, decent affordable housing is made possible for low-income families. To date (1/1/2007), 37 homes in Macomb neighborhoods, housing a total of 43 adults and 90 children, have been completed.
Macomb Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Information
A great number of volunteers are needed to complete each Habitat Home. We need:
Willing Workers - lots & lots of them; Experienced Carpenters; Tool Pod Coordinators;
Food - Lunch Coordinators; A Site Host to register & sign in volunteers.
Our on-site tasks and crews are setup to accommodate all skill levels, so anyone & everyone wanting to volunteer on a Habitat house, can.
Macomb Habitat for Humanity Donation Information
In order to accomplish our work, Habitat must rely in large part on financial contributions. Donations large and small are greatly appreciated because, in fact, every single donation brings us a little closer to our goal of eliminating substandard housing.
