Camp Quality Michigan Charity Profile

Camp Quality Michigan is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to establish and sustain community-based camping and ongoing support programs for children with cancer (ages 4-18) and their families. There is never a cost to our campers or their families. We depend totally on the generosity of individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations acting out of concern for these children.

The goals and aims of Camp Quality are:
To allow children with cancer to be children again.

To create stress-free environments that offer exciting activities, foster new friendships, and help give children courage, motivation and emotional strength.

To give families of children with cancer a much needed rest, knowing that the highest quality program has been selected to keep their child happy. Camp Quality pairs up campers one-to-one with a companion, and most importantly, the finest medical supervision will be provided at every camp.

To give the child hope for the future in that the camping experience will be such fun, they will look forward to and anticipate their next camp, and that the memories from their special week will sustain them in the weeks and months ahead as they continue their medical treatment.

Camp Quality Michigan Volunteer Information

What really makes Camp Quality is unique is that a one-on-one companion is assigned to every child who registers for summer camp. Compantions must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Their dedication and commitment is the backbone of our program.

Camp Quality Companions come from all walks of life--teachers, college students, lawyers, young professionals, retired professionals, police officers, firefighters. Quality companions must be willing to invest their time, energy and heart into the experience of their camper . . .but the return is priceless.

No special skill or medical training is needed. We seek caring adults who want to build a friendship with a special child. Companions are fun to be with, adventuresome, great listeners and are always sharing their love for life.
