Merrimack Repertory Theatre Charity Profile
Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is a non-profit, fully professional theatre company located in Lowell, Massachusetts that serves the Greater Merrimack Valley area with outstanding live professional theatre productions and arts education programs. MRT’s mission is to advance the cause of human understanding by creating theatrical productions at the highest level of artistic excellence and making them affordable to the broadest possible community. In fulfilling its mission, MRT is dedicated to: 1) Developing and presenting new plays that address contemporary issues and reflect the community’s diverse nature; 2) Producing established plays that offer a broad range of topics and styles; 3) Ensuring the deepest reach and broadest involvement of the community by subsidizing ticket costs and offering a variety of outreach programs; and 4) Serving young, diverse audiences through its educational programs for students.
MRT is the only member of the national League of Resident Theatres serving the Greater Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire region. It is also the only theatre company producing plays at national-level professional standards of artistic quality north of Boston. MRT has gained a local and national reputation for the consistently high quality of its productions, and has received many Boston Critics Awards and nearly 100 other accolades and awards, including recognition in American Theatre Magazine, The Boston Globe, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Over the course of its over 200 productions, MRT has produced 14 world premieres and 32 regional premieres, including the Off-Broadway premiere of Bob Clyman's Secret Order in 2007, which was nominated for an Outer Drama Critics Circle Award. In 2007, MRT, in association with a number of community partners, produced the world premiere of the first Cambodian-American opera, Where Elephants Weep, an unprecedented collaboration between Cambodian and American partners. In its 30-year history, MRT has served over one million theatergoers, and its education, outreach and discount programs have served over 200,000 students and senior citizens, and have built working partnerships with more than 50 different community and ethnically based service organizations. MRT has established a theatrical legacy through its dedication to arts education, new works and collaborations with the local business, non-profit and artistic communities.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre Volunteer Information
Aside from its volunteer Board of Trustees charged with governing the organization, Merrimack Repertory Theatre relies on volunteers to fulfill a number of ancillary and supporting roles, including ushers, office support and The Friends of MRT, the theatre's fundraising auxiliary.
Merrimack Repertory Theatre Donation Information
Merrimack Repertory Theatre seeks donations from individuals, foundations, businesses and government agencies to support its theatrical productions and educational outreach programs in the community. Because MRT is dedicated to artistic excellence and maximum affordability, ticket sales only support half the cost of producing first-rate theatre. Charitable contributions help make the theatre accessible and affordable to the entire community through various subsidization and outreach programs, including student matinees, senior matinees, Pay What You Will nights, Lowell Community Nights, Library Pass programs, rush tickets, and student discounts. They also enable the company to attract the country's best available actors, directors and designers to produce MRT's nationally-acclaimed work.
