Growing Places Garden Project Charity Profile
Growing Places Garden Project, Inc. (GPGP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the food security of people with limited economic means by donating vegetable gardens and helping them to grow their own food.
GPGP offers a two year program to eligible garden recipients. Recipients are taught how to maintain the garden and are offered information on how to grow, harvest, use and store their fresh produce throughout the growing season.
Our goal is to make sure that our garden recipients are ready to garden on their own at the end of our two year program. We will continue to provide our graduate recipients with newsletters, answer questions and offer extra seeds (if we have them) to help ensure their long term success. Under special circumstances, GPGP would continue to provide more hands-on services to recipients beyond the second year.
Growing Places Garden Project Volunteer Information
GPGP relies on volunteers to help us build and plant gardens. Volunteers are needed between April and early June. Garden builders help to assemble frames and fill them with soil and compost; there are other tasks that don’t require “heavy lifting”. Garden planters help GPGP gardeners sow seeds and transplant seedlings.
