E.f. Schumacher Society Charity Profile
The E. F. Schumacher Society, named after the author of Small Is Beautiful: Economics As If People Mattered, is an educational non-profit organization founded in 1980. Our programs demonstrate that both social and environmental sustainability can be achieved by applying the values of human-scale communities and respect for the natural environment to economic issues.
E.f. Schumacher Society Volunteer Information
Volunteers gather from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at our office in South Egremont, MA, to assist with various tasks including membership outreach, grant writing, library cataloging, event preparation, and seasonal work on the land and gardens. A shared lunch provides opportunity for fellowship—and delicious nourishment!
The Schumacher Society is located in South Egremont, a small town in the southwestern corner of Massachusetts, in the heart of the Berkshires. We are approximately three hours west of Boston and three hours north of New York City.Directions to the Schumacher Library

E.f. Schumacher Society Donation Information
Donations can be made to further specific programs of the organization, to complete renovation of the Library building through the Society's Capital Campaign, or to add to the Society's endowment fund for long-term program support.
The Society is a section 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization, contributions to which are tax deductible. Due to an unusually low overhead and help provided by capable and dedicated volunteers, contributions have a maximum impact.
