Frederick Chapter #1 Izaak Walton League of America Charity Profile

Frederick Chapter of Izaak Walton League of America, one of the nation's oldest and most respected conservation organizations. We our one of over 330 local chapters nationwide, the League is dedicated to common-sense solutions to protecting our country's natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans.

The Frederick Chapter was chartered in September, 1923, just 12 months after the National organization was founded in Chicago. To the best of our research, the Frederick Chapter was the first in Maryland and is one of the two oldest chapters in the nation.

Our Mission is to conserve, maintain, protect, and restore the soil, forest, water, and other natural resources of the United States and other lands; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization.
