American Fisheries Society Charity Profile

The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals. American Fisheries Society Objectives1: 1.Promote the conservation, development and wise use of the fisheries; 2. Promote and evaluate the development and advancement of all branches of fisheries science and practice; 3. Gather and disseminate to society members and the general public scientific, technical and other information about fisheries science and practice through publications, meetings, and other forms ofcommunication; 4. Encourage the teaching of fisheries science and practice in colleges and universities and the continuingprofessional development of fisheries workers. Scholarship Overview: The Idaho High School Student Scholarship was established by the Idaho Chapter of theAmerican Fisheries Society in 2005. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist with college education costs of highschool students whose professional goals support the mission and objectives of the American Fisheries Society. Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Be a senior enrolled in an Idaho high school2. Have a GPA of at least 3.0 3. Plan to attend a college or university located in Idaho14. Have career goals that advance the mission and objectives of the American Fisheries Society .
