Francis Small Heritage Trust, Inc Charity Profile
The Francis Small Heritage Trust is a private, not-for-profit conservation land trust that was founded in 1990. We obtain land and easements for public access and traditional uses such as hiking, hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiles on existing trails, and horseback riding. As of 2005, the Trust owns over 1400 acres and holds easements on an additional 130 acres, all in Northern York County, Maine.
The Trust also sponsors educational programs where school groups can explore beaver dams, old foundations, natural areas, and hiking trails.
The Trust is staffed entirely by volunteers and is funded by memberships, contributions, and grants. There are no program fees to use Trust lands.
Francis Small Heritage Trust, Inc Volunteer Information
The Trust welcomes volunteers! We have many ways in which you can volunteer to help the Trust's goals.
Francis Small Heritage Trust, Inc Donation Information
The Francis Small Heritage Trust is classified as a 501(C)(3) organization by the I.R.S. so that your donation is tax-deductible.
Donations are very much appreciated. The Trust has no paid staff and no rented office space, so most of the money that the Trust receives is used for direct program expenses and purchasing land. In 2005, less than four percent of the Trust's gross receipts were spent for fundraising and overhead expenses. Several parcels still have monthly mortgage expenses, and we look forward to the day when the protection of those properties is complete. Your gift also lets donor foundations know that the Trust has local support, which can lead to future grants.
