United Volunteers Charity Profile
United Way of Eastern Maine was founded in 1937 so that local, community volunteers could raise and distribute money to those in need. After more than sixty-six years, this principle hasn't changed.
United Way provides leadership for collaborative initiatives, supports volunteerism, and is the largest private funder of health and human service agencies in our community. We bring together human, financial and strategic resources to strengthen children and families, support seniors, meet people's basic needs, and promote self-sufficiency for all people.
Our mission is to improve the lives of people in Eastern Maine by mobilizing the caring power of people and communities.
