Glenwood Regional Medical Center Charity Profile

At Glenwood, we're committed to providing high-quality medical care in a friendly hospital environment. Glenwood is a 237-bed acute-care hospital offering a broad array of healthcare services. Our hospital is highly regarded for quality and patient satisfaction. Through our Heart and Vascular Institute, Glenwood provides comprehensive heart care, including the areas only accredited chest pain center in our Emergency Department. We're proud to be ranked in the Top 10% nationwide for heart surgery by HealthGrades, a leading independent provider of health quality information. Other specialty areas include our Diabetes Management and Foot Treatment Center and our Women and Children's Pavilion.

We are also involved in the community. Our community education services, many of which are provided through HealthSource in the Glenwood Medical Mall, include health fairs, free and low-cost health screenings, corporate wellness programs and numerous seminars and educational classes covering a wide variety of healthcare topics.

Glenwood Regional Medical Center Volunteer Information

Glenwood Regional Medical Center's volunteer program offers opportunities and benefits to those wishing to donate their time within the hospital. The program includes Volunteer Services, the Auxiliary and the Youth Volunteer Program.Benefits are available in all volunteer programs. These benefits include:

A meal ticket to eat free in the Glenwood Cafeteria after 4 hours of service
Free flu shot
Invitation to the Annual Awards Recognition Luncheon
Invitation to fall chili supper
Programs
Glenwood Regional Medical Center offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for both teens and adults. You can make a big difference in the life of others by participating in one or more of the following programs.

Volunteer Services
Members of the Volunteer Services Program can help out in areas including the Hospital Information Center, Pavilion Welcome Center, business offices, and Medical Mall. Other areas where volunteer services are utilized include the following waiting areas: Surgery Waiting, ICU/CCU Waiting, CV-ICU Waiting and Emergency Department Waiting Area. The volunteers' talents and interests are matched with the needs of the hospital, and the two are brought together.

Glenwood Auxiliary
The Glenwood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary was established in the early 1960's to provide human resources for the hospital. This group of dedicated volunteers also holds fundraisers throughout the year to purchase equipment, supplies, and any other items that would help the hospital provide better service to the patients. Annual membership in the Auxiliary is $5.00 though membership in the Auxiliary is optional when considering the Volunteer Program at Glenwood. It is not necessary to belong to the Auxiliary to volunteer in other areas of the hospital.

Youth Volunteer Summer Program
Youth Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer. After a successful screening process, Youth Volunteer’s perform duties that can help them prepare for the competitive job market. High School students can learn more about health careers by participating in the "AHEC of a Summer" program. Students who participate in the AHEC summer program can earn 1/2 unit of high school credit.

Getting Started
To become a volunteer, an application must be completed and returned to the Volunteer Coordinator. A personal interview is then scheduled. Volunteers must receive a TB skin test (at the hospital's expense) and attend the hospital Orientation prior to beginning their volunteer work. Volunteers under the age of 18 must receive parental consent in order to have the TB skin test administered.
