Kisima Pastoralists' Centre Charity Profile

Kisima Pastoralists' Centre is a Christian organisation working with disadvantaged people of Northern Kenya. Northern Kenya is a marginalised region, where most people live as nomadic pastoralists (herders who move their livestock in search of water and pasture), facing increasingly difficult living conditions.

Our aim is to empower pastoralists to enable them improve their own living conditions. Through education and training it is our hope that these people will be able to steer themselves out of dependence and marginalisation. Kisima Pastoralists' Centre consists of:

A Secondary School (operational since February 2005)
A Christian Resource Centre (in the process of development)
It is our desire that the project will grow towards being partially locally sustainable, so as to lessen dependence on external donor funding and to give a sense of responsibility for providing resources for the work of the project. To this end we hope in future to generate some local income through the establishment of:
