Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development JOHUD Charity Profile
JOHUD is Jordan's largest and oldest non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting rights-based sustainable human development in Jordan and in the region.
Established over thirty years ago, JOHUD reaches out through a network of 50 community development centres to reach people in underserved, poor and remote communities.
JOHUD helps people work together to access resources on which to build sustainable livelihoods and to claim the rights and entitlements that contribute to healthy and fulfilled lives.
Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development JOHUD Volunteer Information
The various units of JOHUD also attract volunteers to work closely with beneficiaries in Amman and in the various CDCS across the country. In particular, the Princess Basma Youth Resource Centre attracts youth volunteers working as mentors on the INTEL Computer Clubhouse in Hashemi Shamali and in Mleih.
At the CDC level there is a huge demand for volunteers, and, luckily, a matching supply. All the CDCs rely on the spirit of volunteerism within the local community to run the committees, facilitate the youth and kids clubs, to organize events and to make sure that everyone knows about the centre and ca benefit from its work. JOHUD in particular welcomes volunteers with specific skills such as ICT training, language teaching, the ability to work with the disabled etc. In that way, skills are targeted to those who will most benefit.
