The JEF (GFE) is the Italian section of the Jeunes Européens Fédéralistes (JEF) and the youth group of European Federalist Movement (MFE).

The European Federalist Movement was founded in Milan on 27-28 August 1943 by a group of anti-fascists gathered around Altiero Spinelli. The principles on which it was contained in the Manifesto Ventotene, developed in 1941 by the same Spinelli, with the collaboration of Ernesto Rossi and Eugenio Colorni. The analysis and policy proposals contained in the Manifesto are based on the awareness of the crisis of nation state - considered the main cause of world wars and the assertion of Nazi - and the conviction that only the passing of the absolute sovereignty of States through creation of a European federation would have ensured peace in Europe.

Federalism is a revolutionary and innovative entirely against traditional ideologies (liberalism, democracy, socialism). The new line of division between progressive forces and the reactionary forces in accordance with the federalists is the one that separates those who believe the central task of creating a European federal state by those who knowingly or in fact acting for the maintenance of the system of sovereign nation states.

The ultimate goal of GFE is the achievement of peace and democracy internationally through the creation of the World Federation. Its intermediate targets are the European Federation, the Federal unification of the other great family of humankind and the transformation of the UN in a partial world government. The action to achieve those goals carried out in cooperation with the federalists from all over the world.

GFE can subscribe to all the young people of any nationality and aged between 14 and 29 years.

The GFE differs radically from the normal models of political organization, parties and pressure groups. Unlike lobbyists, who seek only benefits for particular groups without necessarily change the attitude of powers established, and unlike the parties, which are privileged under the framework of national action, the GFE plays a major policy initiative aimed at independent foundation of a new rule, the European Federation.

In summary, the GFE has the following characteristics:

is independent from traditional political forces and not directly involved in elections;
plays a role of political initiative aimed at mobilizing political and social forces and all citizens on the strategic objectives that in turn allow progress towards the European and, ultimately, towards the World Federation;
draw up its policy to the supranational level as the Italian section of the Jeunes Européens Fédéralistes (JEF) and - through the MFE - the World Federalist Movement;
is a collection of centers of political culture of a militant, who collaborate to develop and disseminate the general theory of federalism - that is the heart of the culture of peace - and the critical aspects of the national false;
