UNICEF (United Nations Fund for Children) is the leading global organization for the protection of the rights and living conditions of children and adolescents. Founded in 1946 by decision of the General Assembly, UNICEF now works in 156 developing countries through 126 offices standing on the ground (Country Offices) and in 36 economically advanced countries through a network of National Committees.
