New Humanity Charity Profile

"New Humanity” is an NGO founded in 1987 in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Headquaters of New Humanity is situated in Italy, in the town of Grottaferrata near Rome. Other centers are in New York and Geneva. New Humanity came to life within the heart of the Focolare Movement, which began in 1943 in Trent (Italy) in the midst of the Second World War. Chiara Lubich, foundress of the Focolare Movement, together with her first companions, soon gave rise to a community of over 500 people who shared what they had in order to help the poor, the sick, and those who were suffering because of the war. They desired to renew the social fabric of the entire city.Members of the Movement belonging to different cultures, ethnic groups, religions and traditions are present today in 182 nations. New Humanity promotes the advancement of peoples through cultural events, social projects and economic initiatives, especially in developing nations.
