Mani Tese Charity Profile

Mani Tese is a non governmental development organization operating at national and international level to further justice, solidarity and respect among peoples. Since its foundation in 1964, Mani Tese has pursued this aim by:
- raising public awareness on the causes of poverty in the South and lobbying policy makers and institutions;
- promoting basic rights;
- implementing development projects which beside responding to the needs of the poor may initiate a process of self determination and self reliance.

E 'is one of the slogans used by Mani Tese to synthesize one of the objectives of: changing the lives of every day, talking and acting concretely in cities, and social context.

Mani Tese is based on the work of its volunteers, which spread on the land values. Thinking globally means we can really be agents of a development on a human, which might allow all women and men a life of dignity and freedom from exploitation and injustice without jeopardizing the opportunities of future generations, without destroying the common heritage represented by natural resources necessary for life.

Acting locally means to transform the principles into action, putting oneself in the game to give a push to quell'ago balance that marks a widening imbalance between North and South.

What local groups are important for Mani Tese?

The action and territorial working groups are a vital step in achieving the objectives of our association.
They were 40 years ago, when our association was founded and continues to be today. Because the working groups is so important and relevant?

First, for a strategic reason: the issues of our countryside, our approach to cooperation, ideas and values expressed by our partners and concretely implemented in our development projects have a lot more strength and power to change the more popular are proposed and discussed at local level between citizens of the 15 Italian regions and in civil society of more than 40 Italian municipalities in which we are present with active groups and volunteers.

Secondly, we are increasingly convinced that the size of the group (people who are found, they think, confronting and ultimately act in their daily) is a positive manner, cheerful but vigorous resistance, within a social context characterized by the disintegration of the common experiences and isolation of individuals.
