Friendship Haven Charity Profile

Friendship Haven is truly a "community within a community" where a fifty year tradition of excellence has grown into a unique living experience.

Our five distinct home options provide maintenance-free modern living, comfort, convenience and security. But daily life at Friendship Haven offers you much more. It's an active, supportive environment where you are valued as an individual and encouraged to thrive physically, socially, intellectually, emotionally, vocationally and spiritually
Sleep in, then sit down to breakfast when it suits you. Join as many groups as you like, or start your own. Challenge yourself to a life quest.

Most retirement communities deliver lifestyle and comfort - and Friendship Haven has provided all that in a safe environment for generations. But how many communities also focus on inner health, and encourage residents to develop themselves to their best ability physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually?

We are "person centered," working to provide each resident with a supportive, encouraging experience. And Friendship Haven is graced with an extended family of collaborative, enthusiastic residents and staff committed to sharing life at its fullest, and inspiring continued personal growth
In the early 1920s, periodic efforts to create a "senior home" in Fort Dodge drew increasing support, but no funding. In 1946, incentives of 25 acres and $75,000 were made by Fort Dodge, and this sparked grass roots fundraising, construction and the opening of what would ultimately become Friendship Haven.

Since that time, our campus has grown to meet the changing needs of the Greater Fort Dodge community. For over fifty years Friendship Haven has been a unique place to call home. We are committed to providing a dynamic, supportive neighborhood that you will find exhilarating. Our tradition of service and dedication to quality assure you the greatest value in retirement living. You will be inspired, as you pursue lifelong dreams and passions in a comfortable, secure environment created to nurture your complete intellectual, physical and spiritual self. There is so much to celebrate, to experience, to contribute. Friendship Haven will provide the place, time and opportunity.

Friendship Haven continues to enrich people’s lives by adding quality, socialization and security to their experiences. We are committed to helping residents maximize their capabilities and personal fulfillment by providing personal, social, spiritual and healthcare opportunities in a discrimination-free environment that serves residents and furthers staff skill development

Friendship Haven Volunteer Information

Volunteers give priceless gifts to Friendship Haven everyday and they are indeed gifts in and of themselves. Each year more than 10,500 hours of time is donated campus wide.

Many of our residents team up with members of the local community to volunteer at Friendship Haven. By sharing their time, knowledge and energy, they teach, inform, inspire, and provide assistance for activities, clubs and services.

We are especially proud of the personal creations in quilting, woodworking, stained glass and other crafts that grace homes and public places throughout our campus.

Like to assist one-on-one? Teach a class, conduct a tour or mentor kids? Help a new business or nonprofit effort? Volunteering has been shown to benefit both giver and recipient, and our volunteer organizations will be happy to match your interest with the perfect person or group.
