Advocates for Children - Columbus Charity Profile
Advocates for Children is an organization dedicated to speaking on behalf of abused and neglected children in south central Indiana. The organization provides service to four counties - Bartholomew (Columbus), Decatur (Greensburg), Jackson (Seymour, Brownstown), and Jennings (North Vernon, Vernon).
Advocates for Children provides volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children to ensure that they are given safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. The organization trains and supervises these community volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates - CASAs), who dedicate their minds and hearts for the children of their community.
After successfully completing a thorough training program and appointment by a judge, a CASA volunteer researches the child's situation and makes recommendations to the court about what should happen that would be best for the child. CASAs 'lean' on the child welfare system, advocating for the provision of timely and appropriate services to ensure that children are placed in a safe, loving, and permanent home as quickly as possible.

Advocates for Children - Columbus Volunteer Information
Advocates for Children' is involved in a variety of fund raising projects throughout the year. Some of these projects require many volunteers for the project/event to be successful. The program prefers not to ask CASA volunteers for extra time, other than what is needed to advocate for their cases. As a result, we have compiled a list of individuals who are interested in being Special Project volunteers. This is a good opportunity for someone who is unable to become a CASA volunteer to contribute to our program in other ways.
