LHA India Charity Profile
Lha is the Tibetan word for our innate nature of fundamental goodness. It describes the awakened state of mind, the Primordial Pristine Awareness. Lha is a registered non-profit, grassroots, community social work association.
Lha is dedicated to providing essential resources to the displaced Tibetan community living in exile in McLeod Ganj, Upper Dharamsala. The primary goals of Lha are to facilitate an easy transition for the refugee community to India; to provide a long-term rehabilitation resource center offering educational, cultural, environmental and health education awareness; and to build a social service bridge for the Tibetan refugee community to northern India.
LHA India Volunteer Information
Lha offers two volunteer options, one for the drop-in volunteer and another for those wanting to plan ahead and receive supported services before arrival in India, upon arrival and during their stay in Dharamsala. A wide array of meaningful volunteer opportunities is available for both skilled and unskilled individuals. Most volunteers work directly with Lha, while others are placed throughout the community. Some of the areas of ongoing need are English and French Teachers, Health Care, Environmental Cleanup, Computer technology, Office Mgt and Accounting, Grant writing, Fund raising, Massage teachers, YOGA teachers, and General Building maintenance/repair.
LHA India Donation Information
Lha depends on the goodwill of volunteers and monetary and material donations for it to provide essential rehabilitation resources to the exiled Tibetan community. Lha is a non-profit organization solely dependent on monetary contributions from philanthropic corporations and generous individuals. In India, even a little goes a long way, and a lot goes very far!
