A Woman's Fund, Inc. Charity Profile
The mission of A Woman's Fund, Inc. is to eliminate violence against women and children, and, until that happens, to provide safety and support to survivors of that violence as they take control of their own lives.
A Woman's Fund started in 1971 as two separate groups: A Woman's Place, which offered shelter for women escaping domestic violence, and Champaign County Women Against Rape (now Rape Crisis Services). These small grassroots organizations grew out of a commitment to provide women with safety and support in crisis situations.
A Woman's Fund, Inc. Volunteer Information
A Woman's Fund benefits from male and female volunteers of all backgrounds, interests, and abilities. In addition to performing direct service, volunteers can organize one-day clean-up projects, answer the phones, help with filing, donate beauty services to shelter residents, change the oil in residents' cars, organize fundraisers, and inventory supplies and donations. Volunteers can even become foster fur parents by taking in the pets of women and children who live in the shelter until they move to a more permanent safe place.
A Woman's Fund, Inc. Donation Information
Your financial contribution touches the lives of survivors of violence, and makes an impact on the effort to end violence. We operate with very low administrative overhead - roughly 14% of our total budget - which means that your support will have a direct impact on the people we serve. Only 3% of our budget is spent on fundraising, which is why your donations are so important.
