Peoria Rescue Ministries Charity Profile
The Women’s Pregnancy Center was opened in 1987 to minister to the needs of women who experience an unplanned pregnancy or are recovering from post abortion trauma. Originally located on Sterling Avenue in Peoria the Center recruited many volunteers to counsel those women who come for pregnancy tests, counseling, and baby items. Today the Center is located at 1831 N Knoxville in Peoria ministering to almost 300 clients a month. Pregnancy testing, counseling and baby items are still offered, along with sonograms, Abstinence classes in the public schools, Lamaze classes, parenting classes, Bible studies for diapers and formula, post-abortion counseling, and love and understanding.
At Barnabas Center caring, trained counselors lead children and adults in spiritual and emotional healing through biblically based counseling. Marriage, individual, and family counseling is available at our facility located at 1831 N Knoxville in Peoria, IL.
In recent years the need for an in-house facility for women and women with children was met when Esther House was opened. God provided a 16,000 sq. foot facility located at 6847 N Allen Road in Peoria. Hundreds of volunteers completely refurbished the building. It opened in the fall of 2004 providing a safe, inviting environment where ladies can come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their daily walk with Him. The teachings of Biblical principles and helpful day-to-day life skills allow them to realize their potential as productive, mature self-sustaining members of our community.
Peoria Rescue Ministries has grown from a storefront to a thriving ministry that is greatly blessed. God has provided many, many staff members, board members, volunteers, donors, and churches to grow Peoria Rescue Ministries into a multi-faceted ministry serving the entire Central Illinois Community.
