Kenneth Young Center is a not-for-profit, comprehensive provider of mental health and senior citizens' support services. Our mission is to help people "feel good, do better and find solutions" by providing:
Counseling for adults, children, families.
Assessment, stabilization, linkage for adults/children in psychiatric crisis.
Treatment, support, psychiatric rehab for those with serious mental illness.
Service coordination and in-home services for frail elderly persons
We are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, a nationally respected body with stringent standards of excellence in care
Kenneth W. Young Centers Volunteer Information
Volunteer Opportunities at KYC include:
HOME Support Volunteers are matched with a fragile or isolated elderly client to help with visiting, shopping or respite from one to three hours a week.
Meals-on-Wheels Drivers deliver hot meals to senior clients once a week over the noon hour, ensuring good nutrition and social contact for frail persons home alone.
Money Management volunteers help seniors with budgeting, check-writing or other financial tasks.
Senior Advocates (Red Tape Cutters) help seniors apply for benefits and fill out applications.
Case Aides help Seniors case managers in administrative tasks and make phone calls to clients.
Friendship Volunteers are matched with people challenged by the stigma of mental illness and visit weekly to share friendship, role modeling, and social outings.
Psychosocial Rehabilitation Aides help a few hours each week to talk, interact, and take part in activities in the day program for clients with serious mental illness.
