Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Home Charity Profile
The Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, Inc. is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt child care agency sponsored by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association. The purpose of the Youth Homes is to provide a secure future for Georgia’s needy and worthy children and to give them love, guidance, discipline and all the advantages that are every American child’s birthright. The homes are not reform schools or correctional institutions. They are a warm, caring and secure place for a child to live.
The Youth Homes operates five campuses: the Boys Ranch in Hahira, Cherokee Estate in Dalton, Pineland in LaGrange, Herrington Homestead near Swainsboro and MountainView in Chatsworth.
The Mission of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes is:
To provide quality child care for Georgia’s children who may be products of physical and emotional neglect, physical and sexual abuse, and disrupted families.
To provide opportunities for boys and girls in care to resolve their personal conflicts, find their identities, and learn proper values as they work toward a lawful, productive and secure future.
This mission will be accomplished through continued development of child care centers located strategically throughout the state. These programs provide counseling, residential care, camping, independent living and alumni services.
