Macon Area Habitat For Humanity Charity Profile

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry - our goal is to eliminate substandard housing in Macon. The affiliate has built 69 houses in Bibb and Jones County since it was founded in 1986, providing a simple, decent place to live for 82 adults and 174 children.

Habitat is not a giveaway - we give partner families a “hand up,” not a “hand out.” Homeowners must meet income and credit requirements, put in 300 hours of sweat equity on their home, and pay back their cost of their house with an affordable mortgage.

Macon Area Habitat has embarked on an ambitious project: to eliminate substandard housing in Lynmore Estates, a neighborhood in southeast Macon.
