Children's Home Society of Florida Charity Profile

Established in 1902, Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) is one of Florida’s oldest private nonprofit organizations providing services to children and families.

CHS delivers a unique spectrum of social services designed to protect children at risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment; to strengthen and stabilize families; to help young people break the cycle of abuse and neglect; and to find safe, loving homes for children. Last year, CHS helped to improve the lives of more than 90,000 children and family members.

Nationally accredited since 1982 by the Council on Accreditation (COA), CHS is headquartered in Winter Park, Fla. Our 14 divisions blanket the state, with nearly 2,000 dedicated, trained staff members delivering child-focused, family-centered care.

Children's Home Society of Florida Volunteer Information

Thousands of generous individuals donate their time and talent every year to assist Children's Home Society of Florida in providing quality care and services to Florida children and families. Last year, nearly 6,800 volunteers contributed 195,294 hours of support worth an estimated value of $3,665,668.

Please consider joining our dedicated volunteer corps. Opportunities vary throughout the state but include such rewarding activities as mentoring, rocking babies, help kids with their homework, organizing and supporting fundraising events, advisory board leadership, advocacy and more.

Each volunteer's contribution is critical to our success and enables CHS to continue to provide children and families with hope for tomorrow.

For more than six decades, we've had the opportunity to share our positive message of faith and hope through our News Notes, radio and TV programs, leadership courses and student contests, and honored some of the most prestigious members of the community with Christopher Awards.
