United Way of Collier County Charity Profile

The future success and growth of our United Way depends on our ability to broaden our base of support in the community and to enlist the support of more volunteers to help cultivate a higher awareness among everyone in Collier County.

As our community continues to grow, so will the United Way be required to grow. We must, if we are to continue providing the resources to meet the needs of those in need of a “hand up” rather than a “handout.”

United Way of Collier County Volunteer Information

The agencies funded by United Way are in frequent need of volunteers. We will be happy to direct you to agencies with which you may find an appropriate and rewarding volunteer experience.

Special Events
The organization has various special events for which volunteers are welcomed, such our fall social fundraising event.

Budget Review
The budget review panels provide the opportunity to be part one of the most important roles of the United Way mission: careful stewardship of the community’s financial investment. The budget review panels review the agencies performance and their request for funding, their use of United Way funds, and serving the needs of the community. After their review, the panels make recommendations to the United Way Board of Directors as to funding for the agencies. Budget review occurs during late spring.

Opening Doors
Opening doors for the United Way increases the organization’s opportunities to reach out to the community and let them know the United Way’s role in the Collier County Many new residents (and Old) are not aware of the needs that a large number of the county’s population face. It also provides a great forum for people to find out how their contributions are being spent. Every time you open the door for a United Way presentation, there is no telling how many people will benefit from your effort.

Open Your Heart
The United Way can only carry out its mission if people open their hearts. Helping the organization raise funds for the twenty-nine human services agencies in our United Way family is one way to assist the greatest number of people. If you are a business person, promote a United Way campaign within your business with your employees or coworkers. Your payroll deductions and corporate gifts will make a real difference in the lives of more people than you can imagine. The United Way will assist you in every way possible to set up the campaign as will best suit you and your business.

There are many, many opportunities in the residential community to make your volunteer effort have a real impact. Hosting a neighborhood or community get together will give the community the opportunity to hear about the United Way, its agencies and a few of the 100,000 people who, at some point ineir life, needed the services provided by United Way agencies. Neighborhood or community fundraising campaign, a golf or tennis tournament or other event will not only help raise funds for the United Way but be a valuable experience for a community to work together with a positive common goal
