Virtual Voyages Charity Profile

Some or you may have already joined us on the water aboard one of our real sailboats and others may have visited our web site before. You may have met us at a boat show or festival or in a classroom. But for those of you just joining us, here's an introduction to what Virtual Voyages is.

We take kids on boats. Most of the kids we sail with live in or near port cities. We are based in New London, Connecticut. Our summer program, Friends Afloat, introduces young sailors to the boat, the water, and coastal navigation. Our spring and fall program, School Afloat, sails with kids and connects sailing topics to school curriculum in upper elementary school, middle school and high school. Our Sea-Legs program, a Virtual Voyages' collaboration with Tom Lacey, matches Cadets (kids) with an adult mentor. Cadets sail every week (except in the winter) and climb up through the ranks from Deckhand to Navigator.
