New London Freedom School Charity Profile

The New London Freedom School is a Sudbury-model, democratic school, providing our children with access to a self-directed education in excellence.Our community desperately needs a setting where our children are free to discover and pursue their passions…where our children are free to learn to become responsible adults…to become leaders and innovators, not followers or statistics.

The mission of The New London Freedom School is to create and sustain a dynamic Sudbury-model community in New London, Connecticut, for children ages 4-19 from New London and the greater New London area, where children, who are reflective of and enriched by our central city's economic and racial diversity, are trusted with the freedom and responsibility to be the innovators of their own education and thus, their future.

New London Freedom School Volunteer Information

The New London Freedom school seeks individuals, age 21 or older, who are ardently committed to children’s rights and the democratic process, who have a thorough understanding of the Sudbury school model or are committed to educating themselves about it, with the desire to be a part of the everyday school community and model healthy, responsible adulthood and direct democracy for the students. Opportunity for future employment — positions will be paid in the second and subsequent school years.
